Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War includes a ton of content for players to enjoy.  There’s a lengthy solo campaign, a constantly-evolving multiplayer environment with tons of modes, and the ever-popular Zombies option.  If you plan on diving head-first into the undead action, you might be in for a rude awakening.  Cold War’s Zombies mode is one of the toughest iterations yet, and you can find yourself overwhelmed in an instant.  Thankfully, we’ve got a few tips and tricks to help you fight your way through the undead hordes.
Pack a Punch is a Must!

One of the very first things you should do is find and activate a Pack-a-Punch machine.  These machines will take your weapons and upgrade them in numerous ways, which is absolutely crucial to your survival.  Trying to fight your way through walls of zombies with standard weapons isn’t going to cut it.  Enhancing the firepower and features of your weapons is a must early on, especially if you want to make it through to later rounds.
The Perks of fighting zombies

Once you get your weapons up to a level where they really do some damage, it’s time to enhance your abilities in the same way.  The Zombies mode in Cold War offers up six different Perks at the start.  You can choose from Jugger-Nog, Quick Revive, Speed Cola, Stamin-Up, Deadshot Daiquiri, and Elemental Pop.  These Perks can enhance your speed, healing ability, aim, and more.  No matter how good you are at taking down Zombies on your own, infusing your character with some Perks will make you that much more lethal.

A Megaton Announcement

You’re going to face all sorts of grotesque mutations in Zombies mode, but the one you’ll want to keep a close watch on is the Megaton. This is an absolutely hulking beast that has a health bar to match, and they can take you out with little hassle. Even if you have other zombies shuffling around the map, give the Megaton the majority of your attention. The longer you let these lumbering beasts stick around, the worse shape you’re going to be in. Try to hang back and dish out damage from afar, as getting close to these monstrosities can bring you to an early demise.
Armor all

The Zombies mode in Cold War is the very first one to allow for the use of armor. The importance of armor really can’t be overstated. You’ll want to stock up on armor as early as possible, and make sure it’s in good shape.  Having that extra layer of defense between you and the zombie onslaught makes a big difference. Armor can be dropped by enemies once you take them out, but can also be purchased by using the Salvage you’ve collected. Either way, outfit yourself with whatever armor you have access to.
CQC

The key to success in Zombies mode is to have some serious weapons and a huge cache of ammo.  That said, you might be served well by throwing a Combat Knife in your loadout.  You obviously don’t want to go toe-to-toe with your knife against a wave of zombies, but using your knife is a great way to pick off the final remaining troublemakers.  Not only does your knife never break, it’s also the perfect option for conserving ammo.  Why waste a few more shots on the small fries when you can hang onto them for when things get heated?  Knowing the right times to use your knife can lead to a better position for yourself later in the game.
Roger That

While great weapons, supercharged abilities, and layers of armor will make you a force to be reckoned with, there’s one other way to ensure a long stay in Cold War’s Zombies mode.  Grab some friends and play alongside them for the best chance of making it deep into the experience.  Nothing will be able to match the combination of major firepower and constant chatter between teammates.  Being able to communicate with others to point out problem areas and call in backup is absolutely invaluable.  That constant back-and-forth communication gets everyone on the same page, making it that much tougher for the zombie invasion to break through your defenses.
